Testing Primark Makeup

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a lovely week. Today's post is back to the beauty stuff! It's a bit of a makeup testing/swatching post which I hope you'll all like. So Primark recently released their 'Nudes' collection and when I saw it I was very excited. The packaging is a lot more neutral than their usual stuff and I was especially excited about the lip products as nude colours are my weakness. I feel like the whole collection was inspired by Kim Kardashian's makeup products as the packaging is very similar and also 'nude'.

When deciding what to buy I'll admit, I struggled! All the lip products tempted me and they had lip kits which looked amazing. I decided to go for one lip product, one eye product and one face product.

Firstly, the matte lipstick. In the store I visited there were three different colours to choose from. I opted for the darkest one called 'In the Buff'. For me, one of the others was way too light and would've given a 'concealer lips' appearance, and the other was just too pink for me. The price of the lipstick was £1.50(!) which is probably the cheapest lipstick I've bought in a long time. Upon application I was SO impressed. The lipstick is so easy to apply and goes on so smoothly which I was so surprised about. I was expecting it to be both flakey and cakey, and it's neither! The pigmentation is amazing and I am obsessed with the colour. In terms of staying power I am also impressed. I was expecting it to flake off throughout the day but it really hasn't and only required a touch up or two. I would totally recommend this lipstick as for £1.50 you can't go wrong!

So the next thing I tried was the contour palette. I chose this as it included a gorgeous blush shade as well as powders for contour and highlight. The palette was £4.00 which I thought was pretty good for four powders. Upon appearance I was so excited to try this however I must admit, I'm disappointed. I like the blush and the highlighter 'Pure', however I found the pigmentation very poor and I had to build up just to get a good colour. I think the other highlighter 'Polar' may be great for inner corner highlight or a brow bone highlight but (personally) I wouldn't recommend it for highlighting cheekbones. The contour shade had a better pigmentation however I found it hard to blend and ended up looking a little streaky. Overall it's okay, however no where near as good as the matte lipstick.
Swatches: In the Buff (Top)
Enchanted Metallic eye cream (Below)
The final product I bought was the Metallic eye cream. The store only had two shades, a pinky toned colour and the golden one which I opted for. I love eye creams for using as a base for eyeshadow or even using them on their own so was excited to try it. I swatched it before application and OMG it's amazing!! The pigmentation is insane and the colour is so pretty. The formula is smooth and blendable and I'm beyond impressed, and they only cost £2. I've been pretty much wearing it daily since I've bought it and I love it so much. Next time I visit Primark I will 100% be getting any of the other colours they have. The formula is similar to MAC paint pots however a fraction of the price, yay! The picture above is the eye cream after one swatch.

Overall, I am so impressed by this makeup range from Primark. I definitely want to try out more, maybe one of the lip kits or eye kits. Let me know if there's any Primark products you'd recommend me trying and I'll be sure to! Hope you enjoyed this post.

A Weekend in Paris

Hi Everyone!

It's a long time since I've posted. The stress and work load of University has been a little much for me and I just didn't prioritise my blog. However... I'm back! I wanted to start my blog again as a little distraction from my Uni work and dissertation, and I've definitely missed it.

I will carry on with my usual beauty posts next time however this time I wanted to share something a little different. So when browsing the Black Friday sales last November I stumbled across a British Airways sale. Me being the holiday fanatic I am decided to 'browse' and ended up being tempted to a weekend away in Paris with my boyfriend. We justified it as a Christmas present to each other but really we just couldn't wait to go away again. Plus Paris =Disneyland!

I'm not going to ramble about how great my holiday was, I'm just going to briefly talk through what we did if any of you plan to go to Paris and Disneyland.

So we landed on the Saturday, we were staying in the 'Vienna House Magic Circus Hotel' which is a Disney hotel. The hotel itself was so cute! Everywhere was circus themed, including the rooms. The room was spacious, had a bath and even had spare bunk beds as well as the double bed. By staying in a Disney hotel we were able to make use of the Disney shuttle which went between the hotels and the parks, so that's what we did Saturday. We were pretty tired after travelling so decided to stick to the Disney Village, which is free. We weren't expecting much with it being free but we were so surprised! So many nice restaurants, Disney shops and places to look round. We ended up going to Planet Hollywood which was GREAT and then just having an early night ready for exploring the next day.

Sunday was a day in Paris, yay! We got the train from the Disney train station which took us all the way into central Paris and only cost 15 euros each return. We didn't really have much of a game plan other than the bits of Paris we wanted to see. Us being the tourists we are planned to see Notre Dam, The Louvre, Arc De Triomphe and The Eiffel Tower. If you are up for walking it is possible to walk to all these places.  We started at Notre Dam, which was amazing. I'd suggest getting there early as we returned later in the day and it was a lot busier. We then walked to The Louvre. We didn't actually go in but was still good to see the pyramids and the gardens surrounding the area. We then wandered up Champs-Elysee towards the Arc De Triomphe. It was an amazing view and had we had more time we'd of definitely gone up in, particularly as it was free for people our age! We then walked to the Eiffel Tower. It was under maintenance so we weren't able to go to the top, but the view from the 2nd floor was still pretty spectacular. I would suggest booking in advance as we had no queues whatsoever, so would definitely recommend. We then went back to Notre Dam as around that area they had the nice little French restaurants. We found a lovely set menu and the French onion soup was deeeelicious.  Being pretty tired after this we headed back to our hotel, but we were both in agreement we'd love to go back.

Disneyland! There was no doubt that this was what I was most excited for. I had been hinting to Ben about going to Disney for basically the duration of our relationship so it was safe to say I was excited.

We had a day at Disneyland and a day at Disney studios. With both of us supplied with a pair of Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears we were ready to go. Walking through the ticket gates towards Disney main street I was in heaven. I could hear the Disney music and see the castle in the distance, the inner child in me was definitely released that day. Straight away we went on the Buzz Lightyear laser ride and we got very competitive, although I admit defeat as I was terrible (lol). We went on all the rides we managed and hardly had to queue, that was definitely a benefit of going in the freezing cold. In the afternoon was the parade and I LOVED it. It gets pretty busy so if you want a good view I'd suggest getting there a bit before it starts. It was so magical. You're never too old to see all your favourite Disney characters dancing around you, so much nostalgia! The fireworks were another part of the day I would not miss. They illuminate the castle with scenes from your favourite Disney films, accompanied by music and fireworks. Honestly amazing! The next day was the Disney Studios. I would say there was less to do here but the rides which were there were definitely my favourites. Roc 'n' Rollercoaster, Hollywood tower of terror, Crush's coaster and the ratatouille ride were my personal favs. However my boyfriend loved the stunt show so that's something else I'd recommend.

I've definitely rambled but I wanted to share what I've done and to get back into blogging again. Plus hopefully in a few years I'll look back and read posts like this. Hope you enjoyed!

The ultimate eyeshadow palette?

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all well. Today I thought I would share with you all an eyeshadow palette which I am OBSESSED with. So often I get an eyeshadow palette and there are a few colours which stay pretty much untouched, whereas others I hit pan on pretty quickly; anyone else? The palette I wanted to share with you is the 'Smashbox Full Exposure' palette. I admit, it's not cheap, however for the amount of shadows you get, as well as the quality, I would say it's worth it. I paid £38 for mine, however you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. Mine also came with a free eyeshadow primer which is amazing! Anyway, enough rambling.

So why do I love this palette so much? There are a few main reasons I am loving this palette. One of the main reasons being the mixture of mattes and shimmery shades. I love a mixture, and with this that's exactly what you get! The palette includes 7 matte shadows, and 7 shimmery shadows, so whatever your preference it's incredibly versatile. In terms of quality I prefer the shimmery shadows, simply because I find the matte shades slightly chalky, although they are still beautiful. The colour payoff is incredible for both formulas so there is no need to worry about pigmentation. However, the colours can easily be built up depending on the depth you want. The pictures below show the shimmers on the left and the mattes on the right.

Another thing I love about this palette is the colour selection. My favourite makeup look is a gold smokey eye and this is perfect for that. The mattes are perfect in the crease colours or even as a brow highlight as well as the palest shimmery shade. You can create so many makeup looks whether it's day to day or all out in the evening, it's my most versatile palette.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you're looking for a new eyeshadow palette I would definitely opt for this. Until next time,

Eyebrow Tips and Tricks

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all doing fab. Today I'm doing a post about eyebrows. May be a bit random, yes, but eyebrows make such a difference to your overall facial appearance so I think it's important they get a little bit of tlc! Therefore I am going to be sharing with you a few of my go to tips and tricks to get the perfect brow; or almost perfect, remember eyebrows are sisters not twins.

1. DON'T over pluck.
This may seem like an obvious tip but I think the majority of us have been through that stage where we get a little too keen with the tweezers. There's one thing having a less bushy brow if that's what you prefer but over plucking is a big no no. I'm not saying let your brows grow so much you get a uni brow, just keep them well shaped, and if you're not confident doing them yourself, get a professional to do it!

2. DON'T over line.
The same tip can be given on the opposite end of the spectrum. Over lining your brows can give them a slug like appearance which can be unflattering. If you over line very slightly it can still give the appearance of a fuller brow, just don't go OTT.

3. Find what's best for you personally.
Whether it's waxing, threading or plucking, everyone has a preference. Do what you think works best for you and go with the shape which best suits your face shape. Again, some people prefer a professional, others prefer to do their brows themselves. Personally, I get them threaded now and again and maintain them myself.

4. Get the shade right.
The colour of product you use on your brows can completely alter their appearance. I like to use a dark shade on the outside of my brow and blend in a lighter shade in the inner corner to give a natural look.

5. Find your perfect product.
Filling in your brows can be difficult, however there are so many products available now, there's bound to be one which suits you. I love powder brow kits such as this one by Collection. However, I also love a brow pencil, my favourites being my Anastasia Brow Wiz and my Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil.

6. Technique.
As I previously stated I love to use a darker colour on the outer corner. As well as this I love to get an eyebrow brush to come through my brows to get the perfect blend of colours and to tame any unruly hairs. I found the website 'Into the gloss' had a great article on how to fill in brows which definitely helped me, you can check out the article here.

7. Neaten up.
After filling in my brows I like to go in with a concealer to neaten up the overall appearance of the brows. This really makes them stand out as a strong brow. Again, just make sure this is blended out so it looks natural still!

Ta Da! And that's my finished brow look. I hope you all found this useful, remember to head over to Into The Gloss for more useful tips and tricks, as well as maybe checking out a few YouTube videos which would definitely help. Until next time,

Festival essentials

Hi Everyone!

How are you all?! I firstly want to apologise for my lack of blog posts and interaction for the past month (!) or so. I am so excited to be back and doing another post as I've definitely been missing it. So with festival season already starting and with many more to come, I thought I would share with you all the things I see as essential (kinda) for when going to a festival; because let's face it, you're still going to have a good time minus the festival makeup but it sure helps. Enjoy!

So let's start with some beauty bits and bobs, my favourite! It can be hard to look as glamourous as you'd like when camping for a few days and dancing all day long, however you can certainly make the most of the situation!

Dry Shampoo- Possibly the biggest saviour for me at a festival. For someone who has naturally oily hair I need to wash it frequently to make it look half decent, so dry shampoo between washes is a MUST. You won't be getting your hair all nice at a festival (except maybe the first day), so in order to prevent visible greasiness and leaving your hair smelling fresh and easy to style, it's perfect. Batiste is by far my favourite brand for dry shampoo, especially the yummy cherry scent or the tinted products.

Makeup wipes- Makeup wipes are SO handy at festivals. They suddenly have so many uses! Makeup removing and freshening up (ew) are the two main ones however, but don't forget the deodorant and body sprays!

Makeup- Sounds obvious but in order to look refreshed and in the festival spirit I'm all about the bright colours and glitter, because if you can't at a festival, when can you? I am obsessed with this MUA palette called 'poptastic'. It's ideal for creating bright makeup looks. As well as this the Barry M body glitters are great to do cute patterns on your face or simply on a night out for a pretty makeup look. I may do a blog post on festival hair and makeup ideas so let me know if you would like that.

Next up is random essentials. As well as your standard tent and sleeping bag etc there's a few other bits which come in super handy when at a festival and these are some of my favourites.

Bum Bag (Fanny Pack, lol)- So previously I feel like there was a bit of a stigma around these in the way that they may not look the most fashionable. However I have recently noticed a lot of websites such as ASOS and Boohoo which are really nice, and so practical. I love having everything in site, particularly valuables so these are ideal for me. I love these three from Boohoo, ASOS and Topshop however so many websites offer nice ones.

Waterproofs- Despite wanting to look nice, it's always a good idea to pack some waterproof clothes such as a cute rain coat and wellies, so you look nice and are prepared for all weather. Thing is, if it's not raining you can go without, but at least you're prepared!

Sun stuff- On the other hand, sunglasses, a cute hat and sun cream is also important when the weather is temperamental like it is in the UK!

Extras- Festivals aren't the most luxurious of places so be sure to bring things like toilet roll, hand sanitizer and a first aid kit just in case! A little mirror is always handy too such as ones included in makeup palettes.

So there you have it! I hope you all enjoyed this post as well as any festivals you may be going to. Just have fun! Until next time

Celebrity Get The Look

Hi Everyone!

As you all know I love creating and experimenting with different makeup looks. Not only this, I love to recreate makeup looks and share with you guys how to achieve it. I was talking to my friend Nicole from In The Life of NM and we thought it would be fun to recreate a couple of makeup looks from the same celebrity. It didn't take us long to decide on a celebrity as we both LOVE Kylie Jenner's makeup, she always looks so flawless. Not everyone has the same taste in makeup, some people prefer a more natural finish, whereas others love statement makeup, therefore we thought we would do both! I will be showing you how to recreate a gorgeous red carpet smokey eye; for a more natural day to day look head over to Nicole's blog where she's taken inspiration from one of Kylie's more natural makeup looks. I would definitely recommend checking out Nicole's blog anyway as it's definitely one of my favourites in terms of layout and content.

As you can see from the picture, Kylie opted for a gold smoky eye, with dewy skin and a matte baby pink lip, so that's what I'll be recreating!

1. I began by priming my skin using Benefit Porefessional, I don't always use a primer, however Kylie's skin looks so flawless I felt I needed to! I then went in with my Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer to conceal any blemishes I had and blended this in with my beauty blender.

2. Kylie's foundation looks dewy, yet still full coverage. To recreate this I took my Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation and buffed this all over my face, and then set it lightly with my Collection pressed powder.

3. I then went on to my brows. I usually fill my brows in a bit more than in this look, however Kylie's eyebrows are very natural but shaped. To recreate this I took my Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark brown and lightly took it through my eyebrows.

4. I am obsessed with Kylie's eyeshadow look! The finish is very sharp so I went in with my good ol' celetape to ensure my eyeshadow and eyeliner were precise. I began by placing my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shade 'on and on bronze' all over my lid. I then placed a champagne shade from my Smashbox palette all over my lid and slightly into my crease to avoid a patchy finish. Taking the darkest matte brown from the palette, I went along the tape to create a flick, and then blended this with a fluffy brush into my crease and slightly above for definition and BLEND. I then patted on a gold shimmery shade as well as a shimmery white in the inner corner and under the brow bone to add definition.

5. Eyeliner time! I took my trusty Collection Fast Stroke eyeliner to create a cat eye, as well as my Rimmel Scandal eyes eye pencil and mascara, these three are my go to eye products. I actually put on same fake eyelashes as well, as this was a red carpet look and really made the eyes the focus of the look.

6. Contour time! Kylie is usually very contoured, however from the image I based my look on, it's more about the highlighter. Despite this, I did bronze up my skin using my Rimmel Natural Bronzer, which is a matte bronzer. I then went in with my Revolution highlighter which is actually my favourite highlighter around, despite being extremely cheap!

7. Finally, lips. I love the colour Kylie has on her lips however, I had nothing identical in my collection! To achieve a similar colour, I lined my lips with MAC 'Soar' lip liner, and slightly contoured to add definition; however I don't suppose I'd ever of achieved a pout like Kylie's! I then took a matte Kiko lipstick; I'm unsure of the shade (sorry!) and placed it all over my lips. I put a small amount of my NYX matte lip cream in the Shade 'Milan' in the corners to slightly contour. Despite all this the finished colour was still too bright, so I actually took a matte white eyeshadow and dabbed it all over my lips so it was super matte and the perfect shade. Result!

And that's my finished look! I hope you have fun recreating this makeup look. To check out a gorgeous everyday makeup look inspired by Kylie Jenner, remember to head over to Nicole's blog.
Until next time,

Fake Kittens Beauty Review

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a lovely day. Today I am back with another review, which are probably one of my favourite posts to write. I love trying out new products and letting you guys know what I love and what I don't, which can then hopefully help you out! So today I am going to be reviewing a brand called Fake Kittens. I was kindly sent the products mentioned in this post, but I loved them so much I wanted to share them with you, and all opinions are completely my own! As you may know by now I am a little bit addicted to trying new lip products, my collection just keeps on growing yet I can't help but get more; oops! However, these are some of the best value ones I've tried.

Let's kick it off with the lipsticks. Typically, I'm a nude lip kind of girl, however in summer I love wearing a bright lip, or wearing a classic red in the evening. I'm going to mention 3 very different shades in this post, all of which I am in love with. The finish of the lipsticks are semi-matte, so although they give the matte finish appearance, they aren't drying on the lip and feel more of a satin finish. I love the scent of these lipsticks as well, they have a similar smell to MAC lipsticks and I would actually compare the formula to them also, just a fraction of the price!

Voodoo- This is a gorgeous cool toned pinky/lilac shade. I think this is SO pretty! Like all of the s  hades the pigmentation is incredible and you only need one layer of application to get a bold colour. The staying power is really good and I am so impressed by this lipstick. (Bottom in swatch.)

Peace- This is the colour in the center of the swatch and is a bright coral red colour. I think this would look amazing with a tan in summer to brighten up an outfit. Again, the pigmentation is great and it feels extremely moisturising on the lips.

Thalia- This is the final shade I'm going to be mentioning, and I think I've saved the best until last. This is a true red colour and it's my favourite I own. It's one of those shades I think would suit any skin tone and it's the perfect red lip. I am obsessed *heart eyes*.

I was also lucky enough to be sent one of Fake Kittens Lengthening Mascaras and I have to say I was really surprised by this. I am always apprehensive about new mascaras, especially from brands I've not tried, however this took me by surprise. It really did lengthen my lashes and didn't clump upon application which I was really pleased about. It worked particularly well on my bottom lashes, so if you want a reasonably priced  bottom lash mascara I would totally recommend this one.

I hope you enjoyed this review, and check out Fake Kittens site for their products. Let me know if there are other brands you think deserve recognition and I will be sure to check them out!
Until next time,

Hannah xo
